About OpenStatus

OpenStatus is a real-time mobile platform designed to connect people with the small businesses in their community. We believe that discovering what's actually happening around you, which coffee shop just opened, which boutique is running a pop-up, which restaurant has a special tonight, should be instant, accurate, and free.

Traditional platforms show outdated hours, bury local gems under paid listings, and are cluttered with ads. OpenStatus was built as a direct answer to that problem. Businesses post their own live updates, real hours, real specials, real announcements, and users get a live feed of what's open and what's happening right now.

OpenStatus is for anyone who loves their city and wants to support the independent shops, cafés, studios, and restaurants that make it unique. It's also for small business owners who want a simple, honest way to reach their community without fighting an algorithm.

The app was founded by Sean Yoder and his sister Megan, both based in Tennessee. Frustrated by the disconnect between local businesses and the people who wanted to find them, they set out to build something better, a platform rooted in community, transparency, and genuine local discovery. Today, OpenStatus is free on iOS and Android and growing every day across cities in the US.
